Good Morning or Good Day,

I am preparing for a winter maintenance session with the T-Bird.

The bike:
2012 1600 ABS. Approaching 70K miles.

Most recent work:
Valve adjustment
New injectors
New belt
Front wheel bearings
Brake pads
Etc...

Work to do this winter:
Brake fluid flush
Rear wheel bearings
Fork Seals
Neck bearing lube

I guess my question is, is it worth replacing the hoses? As in Coolant lines, fuel lines, vacuum lines. I am planning a couple long haul trips this summer on top of my daily 100 mile per day commute. Is there something I am missing that will give me a trouble free riding season?

Thanks for any input
Phill in Colorado

Stock hose clamps were a problem on mine, they were only about 1/4" wide and rather delicate.
Somebody on here came up with a link to some stout stainless clamps that don't cut into hoses.
It's around here somewhere....

G'day Phill, for me, the most problems I've had in the last 9 years and 154000kms has been electrical, so I would be checking the ECU and Voltage regulator/rectifier terminals for moisture and corrosion, cleaning and treating with dielectric grease. This goes for battery terminals and earths, I have also had problems with the 5volt sensor plugs and sockets failings due to broken male micro pins, have since replaced all with a different brand.

Can I ask why you replace the injectors?

The battery IS the HEART of the electrical system on all 12 volt DC powered vehicles, meaning the battery itself should be in good condition and clean[not dirty, especially the top of it],as well as tight, which includes all other connections and ground points which should also be clean and tight. And what you wanna see on your volt meter[if ya have one] is a charge rate of 14.2-14.6 when idling and or going down the road.[so ya might wanna install one,if ya don't have one.I did!!] So again, all electrical connections on the machine must be clean and tight. If this criteria is met,you should NOT have any electrical problems and the machine should perform quite well. And this applies to your car, truck, boat,or anything that uses 12 volt DC power.Ca pishe???

Don't forget the instrument cluster. It leads straight to the ECU.

One of the few things that I have yet to have trouble with except for it's wiring loom getting crushed.

Thanks for the responses. Electrical connections are a good point. That is something I will go over. Usually not a big problem here due to very low humidity. Just a lot of dust.

Fuel injectors. The service manual I have , and the dealer at the time, states fuel injectors have a resistance range of 11.4-14ohm. When they replaced mine due to a 10.9 and 10.7 ohm reading with new injectors that measure out at 10.0 and 10.1 ohm, I was informed that the new spec for factory replacement fuel injectors was 9-12 ohms. They reprogrammed the ECU to prevent the "Check Engine" light from coming on. You can form your own opinion that dilemma. There was nothing wrong with them!!!!

Sorry to here about the fires, hail, and dust storms.

Phill

When you do your ABS brake system flush, make sure you have either TuneECU or the Dealer Tool for connecting to it and actuating it for a "complete" flush/bleed of the system. Not a biggie if you don't, but if you're looking to do a complete deal, need to consider that.

Too bad you didn't hit the rear bearings when you swapped the belt!

Grease all cable ends.
Put an emergency tool kit together.
(I might have to itemize mine, would be interesting to compare to others here.)
